Mumbai: The Indian Cricket Team emerged victorious in the 2024 T20 World Cup in the Americas, earning a generous prize of USD 15 million (INR INR 125 crore) from the BCCI.
The prize money will be distributed among the team members, coaching staff, reserves, and selectors, as per reports. Each of the 15 squad members and head coach Rahul Dravid is expected to receive INR 5 crore (USD 600,000), while the core coaching group will earn INR 2.5 crore (USD 300,000) each.
The selection committee members will pocket INR 1 crore (USD 120,000) each, and the backroom staff will receive INR 2 crore (USD 240,000) each. The travelling reserves and other team members will also be rewarded for their contributions.
Following this triumph, BCCI secretary Jay Shah announced that the prize money of Rs 125 crore will cover the players, support staff, coaches, and selectors. Meanwhile, the Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde also declared a USD 1.3 million cash reward for the Indian Team.
Additionally, three members of the World Cup-winning squad, Captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja, announced their retirements from T20 internationals.
