A shocking incident unfolded in Balangir town’s Tulasi Nagar Pada today when a woman fell from the roof of a rented house and died.

Locals expressed suspicion over the circumstances surrounding her death.

The deceased, identified as Namita Samal (54) from Burla in Sambalpur district, lived with her daughter, a second-year Ayurvedic medical student at Balangir Government Ayurvedic College and Hospital. On Thursday morning, while the daughter attended classes, Namita reportedly fell from the roof. Residents suspect suicide but await clarity from CCTV footage to determine whether it was intentional or accidental.

Witnesses immediately alerted police and the fire department. Responders rescued the critically injured woman and rushed her to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Balangir. Doctors declared her dead upon arrival. Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of death.
