The District Supply Department squad conducted a surprise raid today at the Lingaraj Petrol Pump located in Nuagaon, Bhubaneswar.
The inspection revealed irregularities in diesel quality, prompting officials to collect samples for forensic laboratory testing.
During the raid, officials noted several violations, including:
- Expired fire extinguishing equipment
- Absence of sand in safety buckets
- Non-functional public toilets
- Poor auxiliary infrastructure
When questioned, pump owner Bichitra Bhol failed to provide satisfactory explanations regarding the discrepancies. Officials stated that the findings would be reported to higher district authorities and the concerned Oil Marketing Company (OMC) for further action.
The raid was led by District Supply Officer Gyanendriya Mishra, accompanied by BMC Additional Supply Officer Rohit Kumar Das, Assistant Supply Officer Sunita Behera, Block Supply Inspector Soumendra Mohanty, and BMC Supply Inspector.
Officials confirmed that the raid was based on public complaints regarding fuel quality and measurement discrepancies. The department plans to continue such inspections across other fuel stations to ensure compliance and protect consumer interests.
