The Odisha government will hold a crucial review meeting tomorrow to assess the implementation of the Subhadra scheme.
Women and Child Welfare Minister Pravati Parida confirmed that the meeting will focus on identifying and possibly including beneficiaries who were previously excluded.
The department has sought detailed reports from three key departments—Transport, Food Supplies, and Health—to evaluate the current status of the scheme. Specific data requested includes:
- Four-wheeler ownership details from the Commerce and Transport Departments
- Paddy sale records from the Food and Supplies Department
- Verification of deceased beneficiaries from the Health Department
The meeting will be based on the findings submitted by these departments. Minister Parida indicated that a decision may be taken to include eligible individuals who were left out during the initial rollout.
The Subhadra scheme, aimed at empowering women through financial support, has faced criticism over exclusion errors. Tomorrow’s review is expected to address those concerns and improve transparency.
