In a landmark step towards building a modern and self-reliant Brajrajnagar, Odisha’s Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari today laid the foundation stone for 82 ambitious development projects worth ₹23.48 crore and inaugurated 12 completed projects costing ₹2.77 crore — injecting over ₹26 crore into the town’s transformation.

The grand event, held under the Brajrajnagar Municipal Council, was aimed at accelerating infrastructure growth, creating jobs for local youth, and improving quality of life for every section of society.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Pujari said, “Comprehensive development of Brajrajnagar is the main resolve of our government. Today’s foundation-laying and inauguration of development projects will not only strengthen the city’s infrastructure but will also create widespread employment opportunities for our local youth. Projects like the new shopping complex and modern market will energise the local economy and help the youth become self-reliant. Along with this, a modern shelter will be constructed beside the national highway for the safety and rest of our vehicle drivers who travel day and night. We remain committed to the welfare of every section and the vision of a ‘Developed Brajrajnagar’.”Among the 12 inaugurated projects were a ₹20-lakh Drama Pendal at Goal Chowk, a ₹18-lakh Yoga Pindi at Eco Park, renovation of Shahid Smruti and Madhusudan Chowk (₹17 lakh), and construction of a school building with five additional classrooms (₹2.06 crore). Two community centres were also handed over — one at Lamtibahal (₹6.75 lakh under MP Fund) and another at Power House Pada (₹5 lakh).

The 82 new projects whose foundation stones were laid include several game-changing initiatives: a modern meat market near G.M. Complex (₹3.6 crore), a dedicated library near the Women’s College (₹3.42 crore), a Kalyan Mandap at Lamtibahal (₹2.1 crore), and a shopping complex near Tunnel Road (₹1.2 crore). Special focus was given to the Telenpali area with a ₹50-lakh shed at LBYS Club, a ₹60-lakh Kalyan Mandap at Bhagatpada, and another Kalyan Mandap nearing completion. Under the DMF fund, work began on upgrading the Telenpali Sahupada playground (₹1 crore) and restoring the Telenpali pond (₹60 lakh).

District Collector Kunal Motiram Chahwan, Zilla Parishad CEO and Project Director Biswa Ranjan Nayak, Krishna Gopal Sitani, and Brajrajnagar Municipal Executive Officer Chandramani Swain were among the dignitaries present.

Looking ahead, the Brajrajnagar Municipal Council has already prepared an action plan worth ₹36 crore for the financial year 2026-27 to keep the momentum of development going strong.
