In a move to restore stolen and lost mobile phones to their rightful owners, the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissionerate organised a dedicated recovery and handover event on Wednesday.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bhubaneswar, Jagmohan Meena (IPS), led the proceedings at his office in Vani Vihar, where a total of 129 recovered mobile phones were returned to their owners.

These phones were recovered through combined efforts of various police units, including local police stations, POPID, Team-60, and OCPO Cell. Of the total devices, the OCPO Cell played a major role in retrieving 50 phones, while other police stations made notable contributions—Pahala and Lingaraj police stations each recovering 24, Saheed Nagar and Dhauli police stations retrieving 10 each, and Chandrasekharpur and Nandankanan police stations recovering two phones along with two motorcycles.

This initiative highlights the efficiency and commitment of the city police in combating theft and ensuring that stolen property is returned to its lawful owners. In 2024 alone, Bhubaneswar police retrieved 1,153 stolen or lost mobile phones, of which 950 were successfully handed back, showcasing a strong record of public service and crime prevention.

Residents expressed their gratitude to the police force for their swift action, effective investigation, and commitment to reducing mobile theft cases in the city.

The Commissionerate Police continues to urge citizens to report thefts promptly and utilize available tracking methods to aid law enforcement in their recovery operations.
