Bhubaneswar: The Crime Branch of Odisha Police has been assigned to investigate the seizure of alleged spurious COVID-19 drugs in different parts of the state.
This came a day after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik ordered the investigation agency to initiate a probe into the case.
A team of the Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch will hold a discussion with Drugs Controller Annada Sankar Das and an investigation will be launched soon, informed DGP Abhay on Tuesday.
Reportedly, the Drug Control officials conducted a raid at a medicine wholesale godown at Kanika Chhak in Cuttack on June 11 and had seized several boxes of counterfeit medicines estimated at Rs 70 lakh including 17,000 fake Favipiravir tablets.
It was also found that these nine drugs were supplied to different Districts. As per available information, seizures have been made in Bolangir, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Rourkela & Bhubaneswar.
