Roland Garros will once again welcome Stan Wawrinka, as the former champion has been awarded a wildcard entry into the men’s singles draw at the 2025 French Open.
The 40-year-old Swiss player, who famously defeated Novak Djokovic in the 2015 final, is returning to the clay courts in hopes of another competitive run.
Currently ranked 132nd in the ATP standings, Wawrinka has struggled in recent years to advance past the second week of Grand Slam tournaments. His most recent campaign at Roland Garros ended in the second round last year, where he lost to Russia’s Pavel Kotov.
In addition to Wawrinka, French veteran Richard Gasquet has also received a wildcard entry. The 38-year-old will retire after the tournament, giving him one last opportunity to compete on the iconic Parisian clay before saying farewell to professional tennis.
The 2025 French Open is scheduled to take place from May 25 to June 8, promising thrilling matches as seasoned champions and rising stars vie for glory.
