Chief Justice of India Surya Kant has declined a request from leaders of the INDIA bloc seeking a meeting ahead of their planned march to the Supreme Court over allegations of electoral irregularities, which opposition parties have described as “vote chori” or vote theft.
The opposition alliance had sought an audience with the Chief Justice before taking their concerns to the apex court. The issue centres on allegations relating to the electoral process and demands for accountability from the Election Commission.
Despite the rejection of the meeting request, INDIA bloc leaders are expected to proceed with their proposed march to the Supreme Court. The development has added a new dimension to the ongoing political confrontation between opposition parties and the Centre over electoral transparency and voter-related concerns.
The controversy has emerged as a significant national political issue, with opposition parties intensifying their campaign over alleged irregularities in voter rolls and election management. The matter is likely to remain in focus as legal and political developments unfold in the coming days.
