Odia sprinter Srabani Nanda delivered a strong opening leg as India’s women’s 4×100m relay team clinched gold at the New Taipei City Athletics Open 2026.
The quartet of Srabani Nanda, S.S. Sneha, Sudeshna Shivankar, and Tamanna clocked 44.07 seconds, equalling their own Championship Record. India dominated the field with flawless baton exchanges and consistent pace across all four legs.
Srabani set the tone with a powerful start, Sneha maintained momentum, Sudeshna produced a blistering third leg, and Tamanna sealed victory with a commanding finish. The team repeated last year’s success at the same meet, once again recording 44.07 seconds.
India has shown the ability to run faster, having clocked 43.86 seconds at the Asian Athletics Championships 2025. With the Asian Games approaching, the team aims to deliver more sub‑44‑second performances to strengthen its position among Asia’s leading relay squads.
After the win, Srabani expressed pride in adding another international medal to her tally. She thanked her coach, Namita Kabat, teammates, OHPC, NALCO, Odisha Athletics Association, and her family for their support. She emphasised her focus on upcoming competitions and optimism for continued success.
