Former Congress president Sonia Gandhi was admitted to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram after developing a fever.

Sources confirmed she entered the hospital on March 24 and remained under medical care for seven days. Doctors treated her for a systemic infection, and she responded positively to antibiotics.

The 79-year-old leader had earlier been admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in March for similar health concerns. Hospital chairperson Dr Ajay Swaroop explained that Gandhi’s condition involved a systemic infection, where pathogens enter the bloodstream and spread throughout the body. Medical teams closely monitored her progress and reported improvement after antibiotic therapy.

Sonia Gandhi’s health has drawn attention across political circles, with party members expressing concern and relief at her recovery. She continues to undergo routine procedures and medical supervision at Medanta Hospital. Family members and senior Congress leaders have remained in touch with doctors regarding her condition.

The Congress leader’s hospitalisation highlights the seriousness of systemic infections, which can affect multiple organs if untreated. Doctors emphasised the importance of timely medical intervention in such cases. Gandhi’s recovery reassured supporters, though she remains under observation to ensure complete stability.
