The wedding of Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal, originally scheduled for November 23 in Sangli, has been postponed following sudden health concerns involving both families.
A day after Mandhana’s father, Shrinivas Mandhana, was hospitalised due to heart attack–like symptoms, Palash Muchhal was also admitted to a hospital in Sangli after experiencing acute stress-induced health issues.
Palash Muchhal’s Health Update
Speaking to Hindustan Times, Palash’s mother, Amita Muchhal, confirmed that the composer has now returned to Mumbai and is recovering.
She shared that Palash has always been emotionally close to Smriti’s father. According to her, it was Palash—before even Smriti—who insisted that wedding rituals should not proceed until her father had fully recovered.
Amita revealed that after the haldi ceremony, Palash became overwhelmed and experienced a sudden decline in health. He was kept under observation for four hours and underwent several tests, including an ECG. Although the results were normal, doctors attributed the episode to extreme stress.
He is now resting in Mumbai, where his sister, singer Palak Muchhal, has joined him for support.
Health Condition of Smriti Mandhana’s Father
Shrinivas Mandhana fell ill on Sunday and was rushed to Sarvhit Hospital and Medical Research Centre in Sangli. Dr. Naman Shah, the hospital’s director, stated that his symptoms resembled a heart attack and were likely triggered by physical or emotional stress from the wedding preparations.
According to Amita Muchhal, he had been joyfully participating in pre-wedding festivities the day before, dancing and sharing moments on social media. His condition worsened during baraat planning discussions, prompting the family to call an ambulance.
Wedding Postponed After Emotional Turmoil
With only the pheras remaining, both families mutually decided to postpone the wedding. Amita described the couple as emotionally shaken but hopeful that the ceremonies will take place soon.
“Both Smriti and Palash are going through a difficult time. Palash had dreamt of bringing his bride home, and I had planned a special welcome for Smriti. We cancelled all events scheduled for November 24,” she said.
Despite the setback, the Muchhal family remains optimistic. Amita expressed confidence that the wedding will be rescheduled and celebrated once both families are in good health.
