A Singapore-flagged container ship, M V Wan Hai 503, caught fire 78 nautical miles off the Beypore coast in Kerala while en route to Navi Mumbai, leaving four crew members missing and several injured.
According to official sources, the blaze broke out on Monday morning, prompting swift responses from the Indian Coast Guard and Navy. Five ships were dispatched to assist in rescue efforts, with aerial support deployed to locate missing crew members.
The ship’s crew, mainly of Taiwanese nationality, abandoned the vessel using lifeboats and rafts. Meanwhile, authorities have requested an assessment of the cargo onboard to determine any hazardous material risks.
