With the Asia Cup 2025 just days away, Indian cricket stars including Shubman Gill and Jasprit Bumrah have arrived at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru for mandatory fitness assessments.
The squad is scheduled to assemble in Dubai on September 4, ahead of their tournament opener against the UAE on September 9.
Gill, who missed the Duleep Trophy quarterfinal due to a bout of flu, is now recovering and preparing for the tournament. Bumrah, along with Washington Sundar, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mohammad Siraj, and Shardul Thakur, will also undergo evaluations at the CoE.
Meanwhile, East Zone pacer Mukesh Kumar raised concerns after sitting out the second innings of the Duleep Trophy due to a suspected thigh/groin niggle. His availability for the Asia Cup remains uncertain.
The staggered travel plan to Dubai marks a departure from previous years, where the team would assemble in Mumbai before flying out together. With several players still engaged in domestic matches, including the Duleep Trophy semifinals, the final squad composition may hinge on fitness outcomes and last-minute selections.
