Bhubaneswar: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) expelled senior congress leader and MLA Suresh Kumar Routray, from the party on Monday.
Taking note of the complaints of indiscipline and anti-party activities, the Congress President has approved the expulsion of Routray from the party for six years with immediate effect.
Releasing a press note the AICC has confirmed the decision.
He has been campaigning for his youngest son, Manmanth Routray, who recently joined the BJD party. As a result, on complaints from party members, the Congress had issued a show cause notice to him earlier.
Notably, Suresh is a six-time MLA from Jatani who has made the assembly constituency a Congress stronghold since 1977. He is well-known for his friendly attitude, open communication and witty dialogue in public.
