A midnight fire at SCB Medical College in Cuttack claimed ten lives, drawing condolences and relief announcements from national and state leaders.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi visited SCB Medical College in Cuttack after the tragic fire and briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi on emergency measures.
Majhi informed the Prime Minister about the relocation of patients, the specialised medical care being provided, and the high-level departmental inquiry ordered by the state government. He expressed gratitude for Modi’s concern and assurance of necessary support.

Majhi personally reviewed the situation at SCB Medical College in the morning. He directed the administration to extend all possible government assistance to victims and their families. He emphasised that all departments and teams are working in full coordination to manage the crisis effectively.
The Chief Minister expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and visited the Trauma Care ICU site. He announced Rs 25 lakh assistance from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) for each bereaved family. He met patients and relatives, assuring them of the best medical care. Majhi instructed medical authorities to provide advanced treatment to those shifted from the ICU and ordered a departmental inquiry into the incident.
