Kendrapada: Upset upon the Supreme Court’s refusal to grant same-sex marriages legal recognition, sprint queen Dutee Chand voiced disappointment and said it disturbed her wedding plan.

The first Indian athlete to disclose a same-sex relationship, Dutee, came out as a lesbian in 2019.

“I plan to wed Monalisa, my companion. But the Supreme Court’s ruling has derailed all of the plans. It had been five years since I moved in with Monalisa. We like being together as grownups and can choose our paths. We anticipate that the Parliament will approve a measure enabling same-sex unions, Dutee stated.

Meanwhile, Dutee’s family opposed her relationship and applauded the SC decision.

However, other people demanded that Parliament step in. Amarbar Biswal, Odisha’s Kendrapada resident and rights activist, advocated for the law’s revision.
