In a sensitive case that gripped the district, Jujumura police successfully rescued a 12‑year‑old boy allegedly abducted by his mother.
The child has been presented before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and the court, while the accused mother was taken into custody and produced before the magistrate after interrogation.
The incident occurred on August 30 in Dongapal village under Jujumura police limits. The boy, son of a former village head, was playing outside when masked miscreants reportedly abducted him. His father lodged a complaint, prompting police, family members, and locals to launch a search.
During the search, the boy phoned his father, revealing he was with his mother. Investigations showed that the mother, originally from Papasara village in Angul district, had left home with her two children two years ago due to family disputes. Later, she was jailed in a theft case, after which her husband brought the children back.
Police acted swiftly to trace and rescue the boy, ensuring his safety. The mother was arrested and produced in court. Locals have praised the police’s prompt and effective action in resolving the case.
