In a major crackdown on illegal gambling activities, Puri Police have arrested a hotel owner in connection with an alleged IPL betting racket involving nearly ₹18 lakh.
The accused was apprehended during a special operation conducted by police in Berhampur. Officials believe the arrest could help uncover a wider betting network operating across different parts of Odisha.
Hotel Owner Arrested in IPL Betting Case
According to police sources, the hotel owner was arrested for allegedly being involved in illegal betting activities linked to the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Acting on intelligence inputs, a team from Puri Police carried out a raid in Berhampur and detained the accused for questioning. Following preliminary investigation, police formally arrested the individual in connection with the case.
₹18 Lakh Betting Transactions Under Scanner
Investigators suspect that betting transactions worth approximately ₹18 lakh were linked to the illegal operation.
Police are now examining financial records, digital communications, and other evidence to determine the scale of the racket and identify additional individuals who may have been involved.
Authorities have not ruled out further arrests as the investigation progresses.
