The 28th Board of Directors meeting of Rourkela Smart City Ltd., was held today, chaired by Development Commissioner cum Additional Chief Secretary Smt. Anu Garg in the presence of Smt. Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department along with the Collector & District Magistrate of Sundargarh, Shri Manoj Satyawan Mahajan and Shri Ashutosh Kulkarni, CEO of Rourkela Smart City Limited.
The Board reviewed the progress of ongoing projects, addressed significant challenges, and discussed operational maintenance and revenue generation strategies. Key insights were shared on various facets of development.
Regarding the Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC) project, the Board urged M/s BEL to accelerate their efforts to ensure timely completion.
In relation to the ‘Rourkela One’ project, a thorough review of the actions undertaken by Rourkela Smart City Ltd. demonstrated satisfactory progress, particularly in the construction of the City Command Center (CCC) building and the Tribal Museum building.
The Board engaged in an in-depth discussion about the soft components of the Tribal Museum, focusing on content development, Tribal Huts, artifacts, and shrine crafts. In addition, updates on other ongoing initiatives, including the Big Recreation Park and Vedvyas Heritage Development, were also provided and discussed.
This meeting underscores the commitment of the Rourkela Smart City initiative to enhance urban development and improve the quality of life for residents.

The Rourkela One project is a signature initiative currently under construction as part of the Rourkela Smart City development. This project includes three key buildings: the Command Control Center for the Rourkela Municipal Corporation Smart City, the Tribal Museum, and the City Auditorium and Convention Center.
The Command Control Center will serve as a central hub for collecting and managing information related to security, traffic management, emergency services, and disaster response. It will also incorporate the existing control room of the Rourkela Municipal Corporation.
The Tribal Museum will be a major attraction, showcasing items that highlight the tribal culture and heritage of Odisha. Additionally, a Hockey Hall of Fame will be established on the museum premises.
The City Auditorium and Convention Center will feature an auditorium with a seating capacity of approximately 1,500 people, designed with a round stage. This facility will support both live performances and video presentations. To create a world-class auditorium experience, provisions will be made for a professional stage, backdrop-changing rooms, curtains, a video screen, a projector, stage lighting, and acoustic treatment.
