Bolangir: A former Revenue Inspector in Bolangir district has been dismissed from govt service after his conviction in a bribery case, the Odisha Vigilance said.
The convict has been identified as Satyanarayan Kumura, Ex-Revenue Inspector (RI), Mahalei Revenue
Circle, Deogaon Tahasil, A/p-RI, Telenpali, Khaprakhol Tahasil in Bolangir district.
Satyanarayan was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in Sambalpur Vigilance PS Case No.35 dt.23.04.2018 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1) (d)/7 P.C. Act,1988 for demanding and accepting a bribe from a complainant for submitting land genealogy enquiry report.
The Special Judge, Vigilance, Bolangir convicted Satyanarayan, on 14.03.2024 and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 4 years and a fine of Rs. 2,000 and in default of payment of the fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for 3 months more for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act,1988.
The court further sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 3 years and a fine of Rs. 2,000 and in default of payment of the fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for 2 months more for
the offence U/s 7 P.C. Act,1988.
Following the conviction of Satyanarayan Kumura Odisha Vigilance had communicated in this regard to the competent authority to take appropriate action against Kumura. Accordingly, Satyanarayan has been dismissed from govt. service by the competent authority for bribery.
