The redevelopment and renovation of the historic Kalinga Studio complex in Bhubaneswar have officially concluded, with the facility being dedicated to the public.
As part of the state government’s vision to revive and promote Odia cinema, the project was modernised with an investment of approximately Rs 164 crore. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi officially inaugurated the state-of-the-art studio complex.
The grand opening ceremony was graced by Industries and Skills Development Minister Sampad Swain, local MLA Babu Singh, and noted actor-turned-legislator Siddharth Mohapatra as guests of honour. Dignitaries emphasised that this is a visionary step by the government to globalise the Odia film industry and provide artists and filmmakers with world-class amenities right within Odisha.
In addition to film shooting infrastructure, the revamped Kalinga Studio integrates tourism and entertainment. A major highlight of the complex is the newly introduced ‘Snow World,’ where tourists and movie lovers can experience a natural winter environment through a special ticketing system. Furthermore, indoor shooting floors, advanced editing and post-production labs, and various global-standard technical facilities have been made available. This enables Ollywood creators to produce high-budget, high-quality films locally without needing to travel to other states. This transformation has sparked tremendous enthusiasm among filmmakers, artists, and culture enthusiasts across the state.
