Continuous heavy rainfall has thrown life out of gear in Raurkela, with floodwaters entering homes across several colonies and low‑lying areas.
Main Road, Daily Market, Gurudwara Road, Malgodown, Lal Building Lane, and residential pockets like Chhend, Tilikanagar, Orampada, Dandiaapali, and Panposh Basti are among the worst affected.
Residents are facing severe hardship as water has entered houses, disrupting daily life. Locals have appealed to the administration to shut schools and colleges temporarily to ensure public safety.
The Meteorological Department has issued a three‑hour alert, warning of continued heavy rainfall. The Municipal Commissioner and ADM have urged citizens to remain cautious. Meanwhile, Raurkela MLA Sarada Prasad Nayak and MLA Durga Tanti visited affected areas, offering assistance. The District Collector is monitoring relief measures, while the Tehsildar continues field inspections.
