Puri: Mahaprabhu Jagannath and His siblings, elder brother Lord Balabhadra and younger sister Devi Subhadra, who had fallen sick after taking a bath on the occasion of Debasnana Purnima, fully recovered on Wednesday.
A group of Daitapatis and Pati Mohapatra servitors of Puri Srimandir today informed the Gajapati Maharaj about the recovery of the Holy Trinity following days of secret treatments by temple priests with traditional herbal medicines.
During a procession with bells, umbrellas, and trumpets, the servitors visited Sri Nahar (the royal palace) near the Srimandir in a ceremony known as “Rajprasad Bije.”
After the ‘Sakala Dhoopa’ in the temple, the Jayvijay Dwara was closed and the Beherana Dwara was opened from which the Rajprasad was taken from the temple to Sri Nahar.
They informed the Gajapati King, the chief servitor of Lord Jagannath, that the deities had recovered from fever in the temple’s Anasara Ghar.
Following treatments with Phuluri oil and Dasmula Oushadhi, the deities have recuperated. They have also adorned coloured garments now seated on platforms called “Chaka Bije.” The servitors announced that the deities would be prepared to board their chariots for the nine-day sojourn to the Gundicha temple, commencing on July 7th.
In a rare occurrence in the temple almanac, which happens once every 53 years, the Netrotsav, Nabajouban Besha, and Rath Yatra will be celebrated together on the 7th of July 2024.
With just three days left for the Rath Yatra of Load Jagannath and his Siblings, the construction of their three gigantic chariots, Nandighosha, Taladhwaja and Darpadalana, has reached its final stage.
Devotees will pull the chariots at 5 pm on July 7th and chariot pulling will again resume the next day i.e. on the 8th.
