Nitesh Tiwari’s highly anticipated cinematic adaptation Ramayana Part One has taken box office tracking by storm, significantly outperforming previous large-scale epic ventures in pre-sales.
Ticket sales for the film commenced on Dussehra—15 days prior to its theatrical release ahead of Diwali—surpassing the milestone of one lakh tickets sold with 13 days still remaining before premiere.
Breaking Records: Ramayana vs. Adipurush
In its opening 24 hours of advance bookings, the Hindi version of Ramayana sold over 65,000 tickets, generating ₹3.13 crore in gross collection. This figure is 123% higher than what Prabhas-starrer Adipurush achieved in the exact same timeframe for its Hindi version (which sold 36,000 tickets and minted ₹1.40 crore).
While Adipurush eventually closed its final pre-sales at ₹26 crore with over a million tickets sold after its Telugu advance bookings opened, Ramayana has already crossed the ₹6.25 crore mark globally, with regional versions in Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu only just beginning.
Cast, Production, and Global Release Schedule
Produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios alongside DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, Ramayana is structured as a two-part epic.
Ranbir Kapoor stars as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman.
Part One is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 5, 2026, while Part Two is slated for Diwali 2027.
The films will release across India in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. Global distribution (excluding India) will be managed by Sony Pictures, with Dharma Productions handling distribution in the Hindi-speaking market. The project is also slated for a worldwide IMAX release.
