Marking the occasion, director Nag Ashwin and the creative team behind Kalki 2898 AD treated fans to an exclusive first-look video of the actor returning to his role as the bounty hunter Bhairava for the film’s highly anticipated sequel.

The 32-second promotional clip offers a behind-the-scenes look at the sets, declaring “Bhairava is back” as Prabhas steps onto the blue-screen stage. Sporting his character’s trademark armor, long hair, and a rugged beard, Prabhas climbs into his iconic vehicle, Bujji, as director Nag Ashwin calls “action”. Fans flooded social media platforms with excitement, praising the actor’s commanding screen presence and striking aura.
Cast Updates and Plot Direction
The sequel brings back legendary actors Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan, reprising their roles as Ashwatthama and Supreme Yaskin, respectively. However, Deepika Padukone—who played the pregnant test subject SUM-80 (Sumathi) in the first installment—has exited the project. Although names like Sai Pallavi and Alia Bhatt circulated as potential replacements, Nag Ashwin clarified to Variety India in September that no new characters are being added to the plot, keeping details of Padukone’s replacement under wraps.
Set in a dystopian future dominated by Supreme Yaskin’s centralized resources, the first blockbuster concluded with the massive revelation that Bhairava is the reincarnation of Karna. The upcoming sequel will pick up directly from where the narrative left off.
