Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday attended the first death anniversary memorial ceremony of former Union Minister and senior BJP leader Dr Debendra Pradhan at Krishi Siksha Sadan here.
Rajnath Singh described the late leader as “a shining foundational pillar of Indian politics.” Recalling his simplicity, straightforwardness and complete harmony between words and deeds, Singh said, “Even though I worked with him for a short time, I was inspired. He was a man who maintained perfect coordination between what he said and what he did.”
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi remembered Dr Debendra Pradhan as “a wise and seasoned statesman of Odisha.” He highlighted humility and an affectionate nature as the biggest attractions of the veteran’s personality. “He was fully dedicated to the policies and ideals of the Bharatiya Janata Party, and this was always reflected in his conduct and speech,” Majhi said. The Chief Minister added that Dr. Pradhan’s dedication, hard work and commitment were instrumental in strengthening the BJP’s organisation in Odisha and that he remains an inexhaustible source of inspiration for all.
On the occasion, the book *Doctor Babu* — a biography of Dr Debendra Pradhan written by author Kalindi Samal — was released by Rajnath Singh and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
Prominent leaders present to pay homage included Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, MP Manmohan Samal and several senior leaders from Odisha and across the country.
