A major road accident in Rajasthan claimed multiple lives after a passenger bus caught fire following a collision on the Jaipur-Bandikui Expressway in Dausa district during the early hours of Wednesday.

Officials said the bus was travelling from Rishikesh to Indore when the accident occurred between 3:15 am and 3:30 am. Rescue teams rushed to the spot as flames engulfed the vehicle.

While authorities have officially confirmed two deaths, they said additional charred remains have been recovered, and the final death toll will be known only after the rescue and identification process is completed.

Around 25 passengers escaped the burning bus

According to district officials, 24 to 25 passengers managed to escape the bus or were rescued before the fire spread completely.

Several injured passengers were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment. Authorities said the rescued passengers are receiving medical care and are reported to be in stable condition.

MP says eight charred bodies recovered

Dausa Member of Parliament Murari Lal Meena said that eight charred bodies had been recovered from the accident site.

Speaking to reporters, he described the incident as tragic and said that 11 injured people had been admitted to hospital for treatment.

District administration continues rescue operation

Dausa District Collector and District Magistrate Dr. Saumya Jha said the bus caught fire after colliding with another vehicle on the expressway.

She said firefighters brought the blaze under control before rescue teams recovered additional charred remains from inside the vehicle.

Officials cautioned that the exact number of fatalities has not yet been confirmed because the rescue and identification process is still underway.

Cause of the accident under investigation

Police and district authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the collision.

Forensic teams and local officials are examining the accident site, while authorities continue to verify the identities of the deceased.

Further details are expected after the completion of rescue operations and official confirmation of the casualty count.
