A demand for a special darshan arrangement exclusively for Puri residents at the Shree Jagannath Temple has been formally raised before Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
Puri MLA Sunil Kumar Mohanty submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister outlining the long-standing demand of local residents.
The demand was presented during a felicitation event organized by various sections associated with the Puri Jagannath Temple. The event was held in response to the removal of the word “Dham” from the name of the Digha Jagannath Temple. On this occasion, MLA Mohanty highlighted the deep and inseparable connection between the identity of Puri city and Shri Jagannath Dham.
In his memorandum, the MLA noted that due to the massive influx of devotees throughout the year, local residents often face difficulties in offering darshan at their convenience. He requested the state government to introduce a dedicated darshan facility for Puri’s permanent residents to ease their access to the temple.
Puri Lok Sabha MP Dr. Sambit Patra was also present during the meeting.
Local residents and temple stakeholders expressed hope that Chief Minister Majhi would consider this demand positively and take necessary steps to implement a special darshan system for the people of Puri.
