Ahead of the planned demonstration at Jantar Mantar on Saturday, October 10, Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke claimed that the Indian government blocked his “final call” mobilization video on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
The video, which urged citizens and supporters to gather in large numbers to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar over alleged electoral roll discrepancies, was geo-restricted for users in India on Friday, October 9.
”Lol They Blocked It”: Dipke Shares Screenshot
Taking to X to highlight the restriction, Dipke posted a screenshot showing the withheld status of his original video clip, writing: “Lol they blocked the video I just posted.”
Despite the geoblock imposed on X within India, the exact video clip remained accessible on Dipke’s official Instagram account without restriction.
A History of Digital Friction
This is not the first instance of platform restrictions surrounding Dipke and the CJP during political mobilizations:
- July 2026 X Account Ban: The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) previously blocked the official CJP handle under Section 69A of the IT Act. The Delhi High Court subsequently ordered the handle restored in July 2026.
- July 2026 Rain Incident Video: Dipke previously accused authorities of taking down a viral video showing him pleading with the Delhi Police to permit protesting students to set up rain shelters during a 20-day agitation near Jantar Mantar.
