After being put in to bat, India got off to a brisk start before wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson took control with an explosive innings of 82 from just 41 deliveries. His knock, studded with nine boundaries and four sixes, kept the scoreboard racing and put the West Indies bowlers under relentless pressure.
Ishan Kishan provided strong support with a quickfire 43 off 22 balls, while Shreyas Iyer hammered 40 from only 18 deliveries to maintain the momentum through the middle overs. In the death overs, Tilak Varma added the finishing touches with an unbeaten 44 off 18 balls, helping India finish just one run short of the 250-mark.
Despite the relentless assault, Roston Chase emerged as the standout bowler for West Indies, claiming impressive figures of 3/24 in four overs. Shamar Springer chipped in with two wickets but conceded 64 runs.
India scored at a staggering run rate of 12.45 per over, underlining the dominance of their batting lineup. The visitors now face a daunting challenge, requiring 250 runs to secure victory in the high-scoring encounter.
