Acting on a reliable tip-off, the Baselisahi Police conducted a raid on an illegal gambling den in the Parbatipur area under Puri district Sunday morning around 10 AM, arresting six individuals.
The accused were allegedly involved in betting money on traditional dice games.
During the raid, the police confiscated ₹22,700 in cash, 12 gambling dice, two earthen pots (handi), and two tarpaulins from the spot.
Following the raid, Baselisahi Police registered Case No. 376/2026 under Sections 296, 351(2), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), alongside Section 3 of the Odisha Prevention of Gambling Act.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Shiba Barik (33), Ananta Palei (45), Madan Parida (48), Goutam Biswal alias Siria (34), Narayan Palei (32), and Abhimanyu Dalei (40), all residents of Parbatipur.
According to official sources from the Baselisahi Police Station, all six accused were produced before the court on the same day.
