At least 15 passengers sustained injuries when a government-run bus overturned near Akhusingh on National Highway 326 under Padmapur police limits in Rayagada district.
The vehicle, which was carrying 49 passengers from Puri to Kotpad, reportedly lost balance and flipped over, causing panic among commuters.
Local residents rushed to the scene and alerted authorities. Police teams arrived promptly and coordinated rescue efforts, transporting the injured to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The exact cause of the accident remains unclear. Officials have launched an investigation to determine whether mechanical failure, driver error, or road conditions contributed to the mishap.
Authorities have urged travellers to exercise caution, especially during monsoon conditions that often make highways slippery and unpredictable.
