Terrorist Hamza Burhan, one of the masterminds behind the 2019 Pulwama attack, was shot dead in Muzaffarabad, Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, by unidentified gunmen.
Sources confirmed that Burhan, who posed as a teacher in Pakistan, was targeted by unknown assailants.
Burhan played a key role in orchestrating the Pulwama terror strike that shook India on February 14, 2019. In that attack, terrorists targeted an army convoy, killing more than 40 soldiers. The incident marked one of the deadliest assaults on Indian security forces in recent history.
Reports indicate that Burhan’s killing occurred in Muzaffarabad, a region often used by terror groups as a safe haven. His death comes as a significant development, given his involvement in planning the Pulwama attack and his continued presence in Pakistan.
The Pulwama attack triggered widespread outrage across India and led to strong counter-terror operations. Burhan’s elimination highlights the ongoing risks faced by terror operatives even within Pakistan-occupied territories.
Security analysts believe his death may weaken networks linked to the Pulwama plot, though questions remain about the identity of the assailants and the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Burhan’s role in the Pulwama attack and his subsequent activities in Pakistan kept him on the radar of intelligence agencies.
