Indian fast bowler Prasidh Krishna has been ruled out of the upcoming five-match ODI series against New Zealand, starting November 4, 2026, as he continues his recovery from a lingering hamstring injury.
According to an official statement issued by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday, October 30, the 30-year-old pacer requires additional rehabilitation and match-simulation assessment before returning to competitive international action.
Roadmap to Test Fitness: India A Red-Ball Integration
Prasidh initially suffered the hamstring pull during the second ODI against the West Indies in September. While initially selected subject to fitness clearance, the BCCI medical team has opted for a cautious approach to ensure his complete recovery ahead of the crucial two-Test series against New Zealand beginning November 19.
- Return-to-Play Protocol: Subject to clearing his Return to Play (RTP) evaluation at the Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru, Prasidh will join the India A squad for their third and final four-day fixture against New Zealand A to build up his bowling workload.
- Mohammed Siraj’s Call-Up: Pacer Mohammed Siraj will link up with the India A squad for the second unofficial Test starting October 31 in Christchurch to gain valuable red-ball practice.
- Nitish Kumar Reddy’s Dual Assignment: All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy will remain with the main ODI squad for the opening match on November 4 before transitioning to the India A setup for the third four-day match.
Pace Contingency and Selection Shift
Siraj, who was recently seen in domestic Ranji Trophy action for Hyderabad, adds experience to the red-ball reserves in New Zealand. Meanwhile, Reddy—who turned in a breakout 298-run performance during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy—is being actively prepped to regain his rhythm in long-format conditions.
The BCCI selection committee is expected to name a replacement pacer for the ODI squad shortly as India finalizes white-ball preparations.
