Nabarangpur Town Police arrested three men for breaking into the government residence of BDO Sunil Khara in the Sadar block and committing burglary.
The accused include Romya Karkara of Tota Sahi, Srikant Giri, and Baburaj Khara from Sunabeda in Koraput district.
On November 4, the burglars exploited Khara’s absence and broke the ventilation of his official quarters in the block colony. Consequently, they stole valuables, and Khara immediately lodged a complaint with the Town Police. Soon after, investigators deployed a scientific team and launched a swift probe.
As the investigation progressed, police searched extensively and eventually arrested the trio. Moreover, officers recovered ₹10,000 in cash, a laptop, and gold and silver ornaments from them. During a press briefing, SDPO Krushnachandra Bhatra confirmed that the accused also committed two other thefts in the town.
Finally, the police presented the accused in court after recovering the stolen items. Authorities emphasised that the arrests demonstrate how coordinated investigation and scientific methods strengthen efforts to tackle rising burglary cases in the region.
