Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the 75th anniversary celebrations of the restored Somnath temple in Veraval, Gujarat, on May 11.
The event, known as the Amrut Mahotsav, commemorates the inauguration of the temple by former President Rajendra Prasad in 1951.
Modi will perform Abhishek, Dhwaj Pooja, and Maha Pooja rituals at the temple, while helicopters shower flower petals over the shrine. Gujarat minister Jitu Vaghani said the celebration honours Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s vow to restore the temple, which remains a symbol of enduring faith.
The Prime Minister will arrive in Jamnagar on May 10 and proceed to Somnath the next morning. He will lead a roadshow from the helipad to the statue of Veer Hamirji Gohil, followed by a public address at Sadbhavana Ground.
The celebrations will feature an Indian Air Force Suryakiran airshow and cultural performances by the Bengali community in Gujarat. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, ministers, and BJP leaders will join the ceremony.
After the Somnath event, Modi will travel to Vadodara to inaugurate a hostel complex for Patidar students built by the Sardar Dham Trust. He will also hold a roadshow from Gada Circle to Motibhai Circle before departing for the airport.
