Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday experienced Japan’s famed bullet train alongside his Japanese counterpart Shigeru Ishiba, marking another highlight of his official visit to the country.
During the journey with the Japanese leader, PM Modi also interacted with Indian train drivers undergoing specialized training at the East Japan Railway Company, reflecting growing cooperation between the two nations in high-speed rail technology and skill development.
Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba shared glimpses of the ride on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, writing: “With Prime Minister Modi to Sendai. Continuing from last night, I will be with you in the car.” The post was accompanied by photographs of the two leaders together on board.
The symbolic ride underscores the close collaboration between India and Japan on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project, as well as their broader efforts to enhance connectivity, technology exchange, and people-to-people ties.
The interaction with Indian trainees is also being seen as a boost for capacity building, ensuring that India develops a skilled workforce capable of operating the country’s upcoming high-speed rail corridors.
