Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 10th edition of the India Mobile Congress (IMC) at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi, celebrating a decade of monumental growth in the nation’s telecom and digital sectors.
Paying tribute to Air Force Day and reflecting on his public service milestones, the Prime Minister opened the summit by praising India’s steady strides toward technological self-reliance.
Tracing the evolution of the Digital India vision, PM Modi noted that mobile phones have transformed from mere communication tools into powerful instruments of good governance and citizen empowerment.
Recalling how technology was once an elite privilege, he emphasised that sweeping telecom reforms and domestic manufacturing have successfully democratised digital access, bridging the digital divide. Today, 5G networks span every district across the country, delivering a tenfold increase in internet speeds.
Highlighting the tangible benefits for citizens, the Prime Minister stated that mobile platforms have facilitated over Rs 50 lakh crore in direct benefit transfers, significantly cutting down leakages and bureaucratic delays.
Furthermore, he noted that mobile devices have evolved into multi-functional platforms supporting a booming creator and gaming economy for millions of youths in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.
Addressing emerging digital challenges, PM Modi strongly urged global stakeholders, telecom operators, and governments to establish a robust Global Framework to tackle cyber fraud and deepfakes.
Concluding his address, he affirmed that India has transitioned from a mere consumer to a global creator, charging forward with indigenous technology, product design, and intellectual property.
