A Plus II student at BB College, Baigana Badia in Mayurbhanj district, sustained severe injuries after another student stabbed him on campus on Monday.
The victim, identified as Prahalad Bindhani, was rushed to Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital in Baripada. Doctors later shifted him to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as his condition worsened due to internal bleeding. His condition remains critical.
The incident triggered outrage among locals and students, who staged protests outside the college demanding justice. Authorities locked the college gate as tensions escalated in the area.
Kuliana police detained the accused student and launched an investigation into the attack. Officials confirmed that further inquiries are underway to determine the motive and circumstances behind the stabbing.
