The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh nowcast warning for Puri, forecasting partly cloudy skies with light rain likely over the next six hours as the nine‑day Rath Yatra continues in full swing.
According to the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, temperatures are expected to hover between 31–34°C, with humidity ranging from 85–90%. As of 8:30 am, the realised temperature stood at 30.6°C with 87% humidity, under mainly cloudy skies with haze and no rainfall recorded in the past 24 hours.
Authorities have urged devotees to remain cautious, noting that monsoon conditions can change rapidly. In case of heavy rain, lightning, or strong winds, pilgrims should move to safe, permanent shelters and avoid trees, electric poles, or temporary structures.
Special advisories have been issued for the elderly, children, and those with medical conditions to avoid prolonged exposure to rain and crowded areas. Pilgrims have also been asked to keep mobile phones charged, protect valuables in waterproof pouches, and take sea baths only at designated safe locations, avoiding high tide and rough sea conditions.
