The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is preparing legal action against Zimbabwe fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani after he withdrew from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) at the last minute to join the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Muzarabani was contracted by Islamabad United for PSL 11 as a replacement for Shamar Joseph, with a deal worth 11 million PKR. However, he opted out and signed with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as a replacement for Mustafizur Rahman, who was released following BCCI instructions.
PCB officials expressed strong displeasure over Muzarabani’s decision, calling it a breach of commitment. Reports indicate the board is exploring legal measures to prevent similar withdrawals in future seasons.
This marks the second consecutive year a PSL-contracted player has switched to the IPL. Last season, South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch left Peshawar Zalmi to join the Mumbai Indians, leading the PSL to impose a one-season ban on him.
Muzarabani arrives at KKR after an impressive ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 campaign, where he was Zimbabwe’s leading wicket-taker with 13 wickets, the fourth-highest overall. His pace and consistency add depth to KKR’s bowling attack ahead of IPL 2026.
The clash between PSL and IPL schedules continues to create friction, with PCB determined to safeguard its league’s credibility and enforce contractual obligations.
