Following the detection of the Nipah virus in two nurses in West Bengal, concerns have surfaced in Odisha.
However, the State Health Department has clarified that there is no reason for panic in Odisha.
Officials confirmed that Odisha continues to follow the guidelines issued in 2023 for Nipah virus management. The state has not reported any Nipah cases so far. The Health Department emphasised that until the Union Government issues fresh directives, there is no immediate threat in Odisha.
A central team is currently working in West Bengal to monitor the situation. The Odisha government remains in close contact with the Centre to ensure preparedness and coordination.
Authorities reassured citizens that only two cases have been reported in West Bengal and there is no evidence of wider spread. People have been urged not to panic and to rely on official health advisories.
