Bhojpuri actor Pawan Singh announced on Saturday that he will not contest the upcoming Bihar assembly elections.
He declared his commitment to the BJP, calling himself a “true soldier” of the party.
Singh made the statement on X, addressing his Bhojpuri community. He clarified that he did not join the BJP to seek an election ticket. He also posted a photo with Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Speculation had grown after Singh met Shah and RLM chief Upendra Kushwaha. Reports suggested he might contest from Ara or Barhara in Bhojpur district. Singh dismissed those claims.
In 2024, Singh ran as an Independent from Karakat in the Lok Sabha elections but lost to CPI(ML) Liberation’s Raja Ram Kushwaha.
Meanwhile, his wife Jyoti Singh met political strategist Prashant Kishor in Patna. Rumors swirled about her possible entry into politics through Jan Suraaj. Kishor denied the speculation, stating Jyoti came to discuss personal issues.
Jyoti Singh has approached several leaders for help in recent months. Her visit to Pawan Singh’s Lucknow flat escalated tensions. After a long meeting, Singh left while Jyoti stayed. Police arrived at the scene after Jyoti alleged harassment and threats of eviction in a video post.
The couple’s strained relationship continues to attract public attention. Singh’s political decision and Jyoti’s outreach have added layers to the unfolding drama.
