The famous ‘Panchu Dola Melana’ festival commenced in Harirajpur village of Khordha district following the Holi celebrations, marking the beginning of a grand spiritual gathering steeped in tradition and devotion.
As per the age-old ritual, Paschimasambhu Somnath Dev, the presiding deity of Harirajpur, extends a divine invitation to neighboring deities to participate in Holi celebrations. The festival derives its name ‘Panchu Dola Melana’ from the unique tradition where deities from five major Shiva temples gather at Harirajpur for this sacred melana (congregation).
Villagers and devotees from surrounding areas thronged the village to witness the ceremonial procession of the deities, accompanied by rhythmic drum beats, chants, and vibrant colors. The event is a spectacular blend of faith and festivity, symbolizing unity among the temples and communities.
The festival is expected to continue for a few days, drawing thousands of devotees who come to seek blessings and witness the rich cultural heritage of Odisha.
