The Indian Army confirmed that one terrorist was killed during an ongoing encounter in Kulgam district under Operation Akhal. Security forces remain engaged in the operation, which began late Friday.

According to the Army’s Chinar Corps, intermittent and intense gunfire continued through the night as troops maintained contact with the suspect and closed in on his position.

“Alert troops responded with calibrated fire and tightened the noose while maintaining contact,” the Corps stated on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle.

The operation is still underway, and additional details are expected as security forces continue their search in the area.
