In a significant step towards bolstering rural development, the second meeting of the High Power Committee (HPC) on the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) for the financial year 2025-26 was held today at Lok Seva Bhawan.

Chaired by Anu Garg, IAS, Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Odisha, the session focused on reviewing ongoing projects and strategising for future sanctions.

Key attendees included Sanjeeb Kumar Mishra, Principal Secretary of the Finance Department; Sanjay Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary of the Works Department; Yamini Sarangi, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Rural Development Department; Sanjay Kumar Talukdar, Chief General Manager of NABARD; and senior officers from various state government departments.

During the review, Garg evaluated the progress of RIDF projects implemented by multiple departments. She provided valuable suggestions to enhance efficiency and emphasised the need to accelerate project execution while ensuring the timely submission of reimbursement claims. This, she noted, would enable the state to access more low-cost funds for creating essential rural infrastructure.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of expediting ongoing initiatives to maximise drawal from RIDF. Discussions extended to exploring new projects eligible for funding under other low-cost schemes, including the Micro Irrigation Fund (MIF), Fisheries & Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund (FIDF), and Food Processing Fund (FPF).

Highlighting Odisha’s consistently excellent performance in managing these projects, the committee urged NABARD to sanction additional initiatives for the state in FY 2025-26. This appeal underscores Odisha’s commitment to sustainable rural growth and efficient utilisation of development funds.

The outcomes of this meeting are expected to pave the way for expanded infrastructure development, benefiting rural communities across the state.
