In a significant push towards employment generation, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today distributed appointment letters to 7,293 candidates across 12 government departments during the 12th Recruitment Fair and Training Program-2025.

This event marks a milestone in the state government’s commitment to transparent and merit-based hiring, bringing the total number of government appointments in the last 17 months to 37,325.

Addressing the newly appointed employees at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, the Chief Minister emphasised the importance of integrity in public service. “You have joined government service through a completely transparent and honest recruitment process. Therefore, commit yourselves to upholding honesty and transparency in your duties,” Majhi urged. He warned against corruption, describing it as a “poison” that could jeopardise one’s career and personal life. “Stay as far away from corruption as possible; it is extremely dangerous for you and your career,” he added.

The CM outlined four key pieces of advice for the new recruits: provide compassionate and fair service to the public, strive for excellence in all tasks, continuously expand knowledge to stay relevant, and maintain utmost integrity and transparency in the workplace. He reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, encouraging the appointees to align their actions with the state’s development goals.

The appointments span various sectors, including:

  • Forest and Environment Department: 1,504 forest guards and 246 foresters.
  • Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Department: 117 assistant agriculture officers.
  • Labour and Employees’ State Insurance Department: 15 paramedics staff.
  • Water Resources Department: 36 executive engineers (mechanical).
  • Additionally, for the first time, 40 stenographers were appointed on a regular basis for the Advocate General’s Office.

Reflecting on the government’s achievements, Majhi highlighted that the administration had promised to create government jobs for the youth and has delivered by organising regular recruitment fairs. “We set a target of 65,000 government appointments in two years, and in just 17 months, we have already provided 37,325 jobs through 12 such events. This is unprecedented in such a short time,” he said. The CM also noted ongoing efforts to exceed this target and create employment in the industrial sector, with projects worth Rs 2 lakh crore grounded, ensuring jobs for 1.5 lakh young people.
