In a significant push towards employment generation, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today distributed appointment letters to 7,293 candidates across 12 government departments during the 12th Recruitment Fair and Training Program-2025.

This event marks a milestone in the state government’s commitment to transparent and merit-based hiring, bringing the total number of government appointments in the last 17 months to 37,325.

Addressing the newly appointed employees at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, the Chief Minister emphasised the importance of integrity in public service. “You have joined government service through a completely transparent and honest recruitment process. Therefore, commit yourselves to upholding honesty and transparency in your duties,” Majhi urged. He warned against corruption, describing it as a “poison” that could jeopardise one’s career and personal life. “Stay as far away from corruption as possible; it is extremely dangerous for you and your career,” he added.

The CM outlined four key pieces of advice for the new recruits: provide compassionate and fair service to the public, strive for excellence in all tasks, continuously expand knowledge to stay relevant, and maintain utmost integrity and transparency in the workplace. He reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, encouraging the appointees to align their actions with the state’s development goals.

The appointments span various sectors, including:

  •  Home Department: 1,979 constables and 386 drivers.
  • School and Mass Education Department: 1,913 graduate teachers and 241 PGTs for higher secondary schools.
  • Higher Education Department: Junior assistants, 7 PETs, and 31 laboratory assistants cum store keepers.
  • Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Department: 24 assistant fisheries officers and 648 livestock inspectors.
  • Information and Public Relations Department: 39 block-level information and public relations officers.
  • Directorate of Mines and Geology: 14 junior chemists.
  • Commerce and Transport Department: 17 junior stenographers.
  • Forest and Environment Department: 1,504 forest guards and 246 foresters.
  • Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Department: 117 assistant agriculture officers.
  • Labour and Employees’ State Insurance Department: 15 paramedics staff.
  • Water Resources Department: 36 executive engineers (mechanical).
  • Additionally, for the first time, 40 stenographers were appointed on a regular basis for the Advocate General’s Office.

Reflecting on the government’s achievements, Majhi highlighted that the administration had promised to create government jobs for the youth and has delivered by organising regular recruitment fairs. “We set a target of 65,000 government appointments in two years, and in just 17 months, we have already provided 37,325 jobs through 12 such events. This is unprecedented in such a short time,” he said. The CM also noted ongoing efforts to exceed this target and create employment in the industrial sector, with projects worth Rs 2 lakh crore grounded, ensuring jobs for 1.5 lakh young people.

Providing justice and service to citizens is the duty of every government employee,” he said.

School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond praised the CM for accelerating recruitments to address staff shortages and ensure quality education for children. “The Chief Minister’s promise to fill vacancies is being fulfilled gradually,” he noted.

Fisheries and Animal Resources Minister Gokulananda Mallick congratulated the recruits on their hard work and encouraged them to perform responsibly for greater success.

Forest and Environment Minister Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia emphasised the government’s vision for a developed Odisha, urging the new employees to work with dedication and transparency.

During the event, the CM personally handed over appointment letters to 30 representatives from the 12 departments. Four new appointees—Bansingh Majhi (Home Department, Keonjhar), Sasmita Pradhan (School and Mass Education, Khordha), Debendra Padiami (Forest Department, Malkangiri), and Anwesha Ray (Fisheries and Animal Resources, Jagatsinghpur)—shared their experiences, expressing gratitude to the government for the fair recruitment process.

The program was coordinated by Additional Chief Secretary of Home Department Satyabrata Sahu, who welcomed the gathering, and Commissioner-cum-Secretary of School and Mass Education Dr N. Thirumala Naik, who delivered the vote of thanks.
