Odisha is likely to witness another spell of rainfall as a fresh low-pressure area is expected to form over the north-west Bay of Bengal on Wednesday, August 12.
The system is likely to develop under the influence of an upper-air cyclonic circulation that has formed over the north-west Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas. The circulation extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level and is tilting towards the southwest, according to the Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar.
Yellow warning issued for Odisha
The Regional Meteorological Centre has issued a yellow warning for the entire state for the next 24 hours, with heavy to very heavy rainfall likely in several districts.
The weather system is expected to remain active and bring rainfall to Odisha until August 14.
Regional Meteorological Centre director Manorama Mohanty said the upper-air cyclonic circulation over the north-west Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a low-pressure area by August 12.
Rain forecast for western and northern Odisha
Rainfall activity is also expected to continue in parts of western and northern Odisha on August 15 and 16, according to the weather office.
With the developing system over the Bay of Bengal, residents in vulnerable areas have been advised to remain alert, particularly in districts likely to experience heavy rainfall.
