Odisha Vigilance arrested Subash Chandra Sahoo, a staffer of the District Education Office (DEO), Cuttack, for allegedly misappropriating Rs 51.53 lakh of government funds.
Sahoo, attached to Sidheswar Vidyamandir, Naraj, Baranga, reportedly diverted salaries meant for fake employees into his personal account.

Salaries were generated and credited to these fake accounts, and the funds were transferred to Sahoo’s personal bank account on the same day. Vigilance officials described the operation as a sophisticated digital fraud exploiting official systems.
Cuttack Vigilance Police registered Case No. 18/2026 under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018. Sahoo was produced before the court following his arrest. Officials confirmed that further investigation will trace the money trail and identify any accomplices.
